I want to discuss a few mistakes we probably make with foundation.
Foundation Mistake #1: Using a powder foundation.
If you want a dewey look, powder foundations will not give you the best finish like a liquid foundation. Powders are drying, tend to cake and can even accentuate wrinkles because they settle into the creases.
Here are a few liquid foundation recommedations that I like.
Makeup Forever- This foundation is light weight, medium coverage but you can build it up to full coverage, and most importantly its a high definition foundation. You can purchase Makeup Forever at Sephora or any department stores.
L’Oreal True Match- This has broad spectrum SPF 17, Full Coverage, and it is light weight. You can purchase L’Oreal at Walmart, Target or any Pharmacy.
EX1 Invisiwear- Full Coverage, Oil free, perfect coverage that is almost invisible. You can purchase EX1 Invisiwear online. lookfantastic.com is the original online British beauty boutique. Today, they are Europe’s number one retailer for beauty. Free worldwide delivery.
Foundation Mistake #2: Testing your foundation under a dim light
When buying a foundation we should double check if the foundation really matches our skin tone. Sometimes the department stores lighting is poor and when trying on a foundation it may seem it matches us. I suggest going to the store without makeup, have someone choose two tones that might match your skin. Apply the two colors on each side of your face, go outside with a mirror and double check. You don’t want to look like a ghost or tanned. This happened way to many times to me. LOL
Foundation Mistake #3: Applying your foundation with your fingers
Using your fingers to apply foundation will leave streak marks, you cannot distribute the foundation evenly, and your face won’t look flawless. There are so many tools to apply foundation. Use whatever works for you. You don’t have to spend a fortune. I love using Real Techniques beauty blender.
Foundation Mistake #4: Not using a primer underneath your foundation
Using primer really does help your foundation glide on smoother and stay put longer. There are primers that can also soften the appearance of wrinkles, control shine or boost radiance. I like using Nivea Men Replenishing Post Shave Balm. You read correctly yes Nivea Men. Nivea has glycerine and it kind of act as a glue for the foundation. The foundation will look absolutely flawless and stay perfect all day long. I also use Mac Prep+Prime Skin. This is a lightweight gel lotion formulated with special effect silicones. Evens out redness and skin tone while adding radiance. improves the laydown and application of foundation or powder.
Remember, you are beautiful no matter what.
